PES 2016 myClub, or if you like to be a little more formal Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 myClub, is a free version of Konami’s fantastic football game. It’s time to give this brilliant free football game a punt.
What is this version of PES?
In PES 2016 myClub can only access myClub mode. You cannot play in tournaments - or in the Master League - but you can access myClub online and participate in offline Friendly and Training modes.
In case you don’t know, myClub is PES take on FIFA’s Ultimate Team. You can create your own fantasy team from players taken from any club or league you fancy, only constrained by the game’s economy. Players are purchased with myClub coins which can be purchased with real money. An additional currency, GP, can also be earned through playing.
Free, the best way pay and play
If we leave aside the free-to-play aspects, PES 2016 myClub has all the virtues of the original PES 2016. The matchmaking has been refined, ensuring you always face players of a suitable skill level. The online games we played were also mostly stable, and when there was an issue the game paused the action so no one gained an advantage.
PES’s animation is one of its great strengths, and a true dividing line between it and FIFA. The gameplay forces you to be tactical, and goals must be earned. Of course, if you do not like the methodical pace you can always go back to FIFA. But for all of its strengths, there are still some issues with AI, both on your own team and with the goalies.
Recommended for online fans
If you enjoy online soccer games, and get a kick out of creating your own fantasy football teams, then PES 2016 myClub is a must. It even has all the visual punch and replayability of the paid version.
